Is there a new SNL episode on December 28, 2024?
No, SNL is on a holiday break. Instead, NBC will re-air the October 12 episode hosted by Ariana Grande with musical guest Stevie Nicks.
In that episode, Grande showcased her knack for impressions in sketches like “Maybelline,” where she portrayed Jennifer Coolidge alongside Chloe Fineman, and the “Celine Dion Sports Promo” parody. It also featured Marcello Hernández’s viral character “Domingo” in the “Bridesmaid Speech” sketch, which revolved around a bachelorette party scandal.
Stevie Nicks returned to SNL after more than four decades, performing her 1981 hit “Edge of Seventeen” and her 2024 song “The Lighthouse.” She also sang a snippet of “Landslide” in a promo with Grande and Bowen Yang.
When does SNL return?
SNL is back in January 2025 with new episodes. The 50th anniversary celebrations kick off with special events, documentaries, and a live primetime broadcast.
First up is SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night, a four-part documentary exploring the show’s history, including never-before-seen audition footage and iconic sketches like Will Ferrell’s “More Cowbell.” It premieres January 16, 2025, on Peacock.
A second event, Ladies & Gentleman… 50 Years of SNL Music, directed by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, will feature interviews with legendary musicians and SNL cast members. This three-hour special airs January 27 on NBC and streams the next day on Peacock.
Finally, SNL’s 50th anniversary will culminate with a three-hour live special on February 16, 2025, from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.

All 50 seasons of SNL are available to stream on Peacock. When the show returns in January, new episodes will air on Saturdays on NBC and stream the following day on Peacock.
